We went as a party of 2. Chef Masa serves exquisite unique dishes. Every piece was excellent. It is hard to pick which was my favourite. There wasn't anything we ate that we didn't like even tho most of the pieces were something we have never had before. In fact, Chef has managed to convert me into an uni and liver lover which says a lot as I have never been able to enjoy it previously. Chef was very generous, him and his team of sous chefs work very efficiently as a team. Our 3 hour evening flew by so quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It wasn't awkward at all because of the great rapport with chefs. We will definitely, 100% revisit Sushisho Masa next time we come to Tokyo.

Difficult to find (look for the sign in the photo), but what an amazing place once you do. Tiny with only 7 seats at the bar. Chef Masa prepares everything in front of you, talks you through the fish with pictures, and serves the best sushi I've ever eaten. There were around 40 individual dishes and all were stunning.

I was shown to a seat at the bar, and was so happy to sit after a whole day of sightseeing and experiencing Tokyo. But as soon as I sat down, the chef started making all these exaggerated movements and gestures, pretending he was choking. He then started shouting at me, in Japanese, and pointing to the door. I was dumbfounded and could not understand a thing. I was asking around and nobody was helping. Finally, after a few of these scenes, a fellow diner, with some sympathy and eye-rolling, said that it is my aftershave that’s annoying him (which I put about ten hours ago when I left my hotel in the morning)! And I had to leave! I even offered to move to a further table but no. Never even saying a single word of apology in English (everyone knows ‘sorry’!) he just kicked me out. So humiliating.

2nd time here. The sushi is phenomenal and never disappoints. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I saw that I was being treated differently than the regulars in Japan. They were sitting right next to us and you could clearly see how much bigger their pieces were compared to ours. It was hard for me to understand this after traveling 14 hours to eat here. One of my favorites was the monkfish liver. Sex in my mouth? Pretty much.
